September 30, 1944 - October 14, 2016
Edward Charles Blankschen died at St. Mary's Hospital, Tucson, on Friday, October 14, 2016, after a brief illness. Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Edward served his nation with distinction in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War from 1962 until 1966 aboard the U.S.S. Galveston. In 1972, he joined the Connecticut National Guard and retired in 2004 as a Warrant Officer 3.
Proudly serving his nation was a family tradition; Edward was a direct descendant of Captain John Crane who served in the Revolutionary War. He was an active member of the Fort Lowell-Apache Chapter of the United States Army Warrant Officers' Association, along with the U.S.S. Galveston Shipmates' Association and the Military Officers of America Association.
Edward will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. He was cheerful and outgoing and loved to make other people's day a little brighter.
We honor his memory and service.
